West Bath, Maine
West Bath is located on the coast between Brunswick and Bath, approximately 35 miles north of Portland on Route 1. Crossing the New Meadows River, the town is the gateway to Sagadahoc County. West Bath officially became a town in 1844. Now home to just under 1900 people the suburb of Bath and Brunswick is a beautiful coastal town offering miles of waterfront, bays and inlets.
Sites, Attractions and Conserved Areas
- West Bath Historical Society. This non-profit, all volunteer organization is in its 14th year. The organization has restored and preserved both The Old West Bath Meeting House and The Littlefield School, both of which are open to the public for special events.
- Green Point Preserve. This 45 acre preserve is located on the shore of Winnegance Bay. The Green Point Trail leads to a scenic overlook over Brigham’s Cove.
- The Hamilton Sanctuary. 93 acres between Back Cove and the New Meadows River. Follow the 1.5 mile trail to spot migratory birds and other wildlife.
